Outdated legislation and licensing delays are reducing access to care

We can change that.

Today, more than 3.6 million Illinois residents live in a community designated as a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).*

This access-to-care crisis poses a danger to the health of our state and diminishes the quality of life in our communities.

It is critical that the Illinois legislature take steps to expand access to qualified and highly skilled Physician Assistants (PAs).

PAs support Team-Based Practice with physicians

Illinois PAs are not seeking independent practice. We believe in a team-based approach that improves access to care through collaboration, getting the patient to the provider they need when they need it.

PAs provide high-quality, safe patient care

The evidence speaks for itself: Study after study shows that PAs provide, safe, effective, and high-quality care.

“PAs provide excellent care, and should be allowed to practice to the top of their training, education, and experience.”

— Quincy Scott, DO, FAAFP

It is time to modernize Illinois’ practice laws so that PAs can work in true partnership with physicians and other healthcare providers.
